A Time for Giving Thanks

I have never cared for the cold weather, but I have always looked forward to this time of year. The reason, THANKSGIVING. I love that we have a national holiday devoted to spending time with family and thinking about the many things we have to be thankful for.

As a freshman at BYU-Idaho, I was taking a Health class and one of our assignments was a 'Gratitude Journal'. Everyday for several weeks we were to keep a journal of 5 things we were thankful for that day and then write a few sentenses about why chose that thing in our journal (and no repeats). When I started the assignment I figured it would be a little tricky but I was determind to get a good grade. As the weeks went by I was surprised how easy it  really was to continue to find 5 new things each day that I was thankful for. I'll admit I got a little creative sometimes (thankful for fuzzy socks for example), but I was able to complete the assignment and I got a really good grade. More important then the grade, I learned how blessed I really am and I have looked back on that assignment several time in my life since then.

This past year has been full of so many blessing that I feel especially thankful! I have tried to simplify my thoughts so that I can share with you how many things I am truly blessed with;
1- I am thankful for my freedom. I truely feel so fortunate to have been born as a free person into such a great country! and along that same note I am thankful for the parents teaching me to respect and love this country. 2- I am thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I would be so lost and sad without the knowledge I have of a loving Heavenly Father and Savior. 3- I am thankful for the Priesthood. I am blessed daily to have a worthy husband who holds the Priesthood. 4- I am thankful for Families. I am surrounded by fantastic family members who are constant examples to me and teach me so much! I am also thankful for my little, eternal family! They are my everything! 5- I am thankful for our jobs and financial security. 6- I am thankful for service. I feel that there is nothing better for a bad day then finding something you can do for someone else. 7- A living Prophet who gives us current instructions from our Heavenly Father. 8- I am thankful for a wonderful Husband! He is my best friend! He makes me so happy each day with his always positive attitude and selfless service. I am thankful for our time together and I look forward to an exciting future together! 9- Makailey! I can't imagine life without her! Makailey is the light of my life and makes every day an adventure!
10- Healthy bodies and minds. I am thankful for my health and that of my family.

I am so truly blessed!
